Green is an ever-evolving artist, with a fluidity that defies categorization. Known chiefly as a poet, Green’s ability to weave stories with such passion and lyrical creativity captivates audiences. He expands his consumers beyond the narrow coffee-house spoken word crowd, creating CDs, videos, books; performing at festivals, rallies, college campuses across the country, selling out major Chicago music venues and even performing center stage at the inauguration of Chicago Mayor Rahm Emmanuel.
Green has been featured in many major blogs: FakeShore Drive, 2DopeBoyz, The Ellen Show Blog, and Black America Web (Tom Joyner). He co-hosts SoulSpeak, a popular weekly open mic in the south loop of Chicago.
A writer beyond just poetry, Green has written four full-length plays, and starred in over a dozen.
His first book, From Englewood, With Love is a collection of poetry and photography celebrating his upbringing on Chicago’s south side. He has been a part of innovative performance groups such as Black Orchard, Fatboy Skinny, and a collaboration with his songstress wife, Charisma Sweat-Green called HNIC ‘ Harold N’ the Incredible Charisma. He is the architect and curator of “Flowers for the Living”, an annual project of collaborations with some of the best musicians Chicago has to offer.
Above all, Harold Green is defined by his undeniable creativity. He is a visionary that brings ideas to life. He is a leader who inspires others to be their best.
